A Note from Jim
“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” -Dr. Suess

Next week your doorbell will ring and you’ll be faced with Trick or Treaters with their little pumpkin bags held out for candy. I’m sure you’ll be faced with the usual Super Heroes, Disney Princesses, ghosts, goblins, and zombies. But there will be that one kid dressed as something completely different. That one kid that just stands out in the crowd. Please give that kid an extra handful of candy…

What’s On Jim’s iPod

You aren’t going to believe what I’m listening to. I’ve seen this person in concert many times, she’s returning to Broadway this spring in Hello Dolly, and I’m about to interview her for my radio show. I’m talking about The Divine Miss M. Bette Midler is re-releasing her debut album from 1972. I was obsessed with it then, and I’m even more obsessed with it now. I’m sure you remember the hits “Do You Want to Dance,” “Chapel of Love,” “Friends” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” The new release has bonus tracks with out takes and never released songs. I can’t wait to hear it!

Jim’s Mail Bag

Dear Jim,

My name is Natasha. I live in UK but I am originally from Russia. I play the piano and compose a bit too but not as good as you- far from it. I studied 5 years in Russian Music School in a town where my family used to live.

I came to UK when I was 18.  Since then my life has been in affliction.

Things that help me cope with my trials are: my commitment to God and my interest in music. I find immense comfort in these. And it’s not any kind of music that I enjoy listening to. Real music. Beautiful Music. Yes, it’s Jim Brickman’s piano music. It touches and heals my soul. Very therapeutic. I got introduced to your music last year only but I feel I cant part with it.

This is just my way to thank you for the music you create. I thank the Divine Author of this wonderful inspiration, too.

VIP of the Month

Heide Mayes, NY

Hello from Niagara Falls NY. I am a mental health counselor and have used Jim’s music and books in the classes I teach on wellness and healthy coping. My mother studied music in Germany during WW II. I grew up listening to her play the piano and always found it comforting.

Who or what introduced you to Jim’s music?
I first heard the Christmas version of Simple Things on our local radio station in 2008 and was hooked from there.

What does Jim’s music do for you?
I think Angel Eyes is my favorite song but Never Alone has helped me cope with grief. Jim’s music brought me through worry, parenting, mending relationships,
medical procedures, surgery and the death of my sister. It’s not just the music I find calming but also the inspirational messages of hope that he shares.

How have you shared Jim’s music?
As a VIP I have been able to introduce Jim and his music to many people especially my husband, son, daughters, sister, mother-in-law and close friends.

Have you ever been on the cruise or at a bash?  If so, what do you enjoy most about it.
I attended Brickman Bash at Niagara-on-the-Lake. I really enjoyed making new friends and sharing stories of how Jim’s music had an impact on our lives. I especially liked the private concert at St. Mark’s church. I was moved by how the music emotionally touched everyone in the room.

What do you like best about being a VIP?
The best part of being a VIP is the many connections I have made with other VIP’s. They are a very special group of people.
