The Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation, founded in 2002 by Leeza and her family, was created in tribute to Leeza’s mother and grandmother and in response to the growing needs of both those who suffer from memory disorders and of their caregivers.
By blending best practices from contemporary social services, healthcare and advocacy efforts we are creating a national community of physicians, local nonprofits, individuals, caregivers, universities and researchers dedicated to community, care and a cure for Alzheimer's disease and related memory disorders.
Aside from the Foundation, there is an establishment called Leeza’s Places across the country. With Leeza’s Place, the Foundation seeks to establish a community "memory consortium" comprised of support, research, a continuum of care, political advocacy, acceptance and wellness.
Ongoing developments within the foundation are:
·Creating an intergenerational approach to intervention that will educate, empower and energize every caregiver, concerned relative and diagnosed individual
·Developing memory consortiums in every county, in every state across the country
·Developing continuums of care in communities nationwide
·Collaborating with Universities and agencies that promote care, treatment and research
·Advocating and promoting early detection and identification programs of all memory disorders
·Developing affiliations with memory centers, agencies and the neurological community driving research and behavioral outcomes
·Supporting clinical trials and advocacy programs that promote research and curative strategies
·Advocating for key legislative issues at the county, state and national levels
Jim was involved with Leeza Gibbons and the Memory Foundation for a benefit concert along with Paul Mitchell Salon.
