Biography

Jim Brickman has revolutionized the sound of solo piano with his pop-style instrumentals and star studded vocal collaborations.

Since the release of his debut album “No Words” in 1994, Jim Brickman’s romantic piano sound has made him the best selling solo piano artist of our time.  His signature style of playing and songwriting has also brought him two Grammy nods, six Gold and Platinum albums, and 28 charted adult radio hits. He recently tied for most number one CDS on Billboard’s New Age chart, and currently holds four of its top ten spots.  Jim received top honors with two SESAC “Songwriter of the Year” awards, a Canadian Country Music Award and a Dove Award presented by the Gospel Music Association.

Jim's best-known compositions include the chart-toppers “Valentine,” “The Gift,” “Love of My Life,” “Simple Things” and “Peace.” He has established a reputation for his collaborations with many gifted musical artists that include: Martina McBride, Gerald Levert, Lady Antebellum, Matt Giraud, Michael W. Smith, Kenny Loggins, Carly Simon, Herb Alpert, Collin Raye, Michael Bolton, Sara Evans, Donny Osmond, Olivia Newton-John, and four American Idol Finalists.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Brickman began playing piano at the age of five and studied music at the prestigious Cleveland Institute of Music. He founded his own advertising music company in 1980, writing commercial jingles for such advertisers as McDonald’s, Pontiac and Kellogg’s.

A strong supporter of PBS, Jim has taped four concert specials for that network, which include Jim Brickman at the Magic Kingdom—The Disney Songbook (2005), My Romance, An Evening with Jim Brickman (2000) Love Songs and Lullabies (2002) and Beautiful World (2009).

Brickman’s highly anticipated album release, Home, a Target exclusive, will arrive in stores this October 2010. Home features an eclectic group of artists including American Idols Matt Giraud, award-winning country singer Ty Herndon, Australian pop singer Delta Goodrem and HLN Morning Express host Robin Meade. The first single off the album, “Thank You” featuring Giraud, was the #1 most added single on the Billboard/R&R charts during its first week at radio.

A song inspired by Jim’s fans, “Thank You” shares a universal message that’s memorable and without a doubt, a smash hit! “All these years, the fans applause has meant thank you to me! When they listen to the words, I hope each one knows this song was written especially for them.” said Jim.

Brickman has received international acclaim as a concert performer, taking his popular live concerts to more than 125 cities each year. He performed on his fifth sold-out Jim Brickman Cruise, a unique event that has become an annual fan favorite. Brickman teamed up with American Greetings lending his music to create some of their best-selling e-Cards to date.

Other artistic endeavors include a weekly radio show, Your Weekend, two best selling books, Simple Things and Love Notes, debuts at Carnegie Hall and the White House, as well as international touring from Spain to Thailand.  Jim lends a hand to several charitable foundations for children including Autism Speaks, UNICEF, and Camp Heartland.

Concert in Rutland, Vermont Thank you Jim for a beautiful concert, your music has ALWAYS touched my soul. A year ago , my father died and all I could do for weeks that turned into months was to lie in bed and cry. I decided to put your music into my C.D. Player and , I was amazed after a short time I felt like your music was speaking to my heart. The pain did not go away, and it still hasn't losing my father, but now when I want to think of him living in peace and love in his"new life" I play your music and it soothes my soul. Thank you for your meaningful , beautiful , romantic music. I hope someday to meet you, and thank you in person. Take care Jim Sincerely, Christine Hoffman Submitted By: Christine Hoffman

Music & friends! We knew in Oct 2000, when Les and I got married just what song would be our first dance together - "Love of My Life", and then went on our honeymoon, a cruise to France, Spain, Italy & more on a Celebrity cruise. We boarded the ship and went straight to the martini tasting where we met Ellen & Jack and Reggie & Alan. We started talking about music and asked Ellen if she knew the song and how much we loved the music and of course, Jim Brickman, and as they say, the rest is history (fate) and we have been friends ever since! Including joining the cruise this year with them. We had a wonderful time with everyone - look forward to many more years enjoying our friends and your music Submitted By: Michelle

My note of congratulations! Hi Jim. The first time I heard your music, I was at work. I heard you on 102.5.. KEZK. This was 1996. My birthday was the following month and you were going to be in St Louis in concert! All I wanted was to go to your concert. It was magical. No really. :) I'm sure I've mentioned it b4 but I was a high school secretary. There was this student in detention. He would sit in there and sing Rainbow Connection.. just like Kermie! I loved it. Well, after about 5 or 6 years, this kid finally graduated. I missed that song and asked the woman I shared an office with if she would call KEZK and request this song. She called and asked them to play Rainbow Connection. They asked, "Who sings it?" Gawd, I was embarrassed to have to tell her.. Kermit.. The Frog.. lol They told her they didn't have the song in their play list. I was disappointed. Ok, so I went to the concert that March of 96 and you said you're going to play a song that's very special to you. (Because before

Congratualtions on 15yrs Jim, You are "America's Most Romantic Piano Sensation," but also I truly appreciate your music because watching you play it on stage, I can see how it comes deep within your heart and soul. I can listen to your music and feel the connection to the melody and the lyrics in that it is in the " Simple Things" that is a miracle for us and that is how I live every day. I am a traumatic brain injury survivor having to learn to walk, talk, dress, brush my teeth, tie my shoes.. all things we take for granted and still had to raise 3 small children, as my husband left me at that time in my life. I lost my 20yr old daughter , 5 years ago from asthma and even now I find comfort in your music to put one foot in front of the other and live for the moment of holding on to a smile, a laugh, a happy thought for that day. You made it possible for me to do that with your music, seeing you in concert and first time on the Escape Cruise this year. I felt like Cinderella. It was more than I could
